2Ninja Gaiden is a Japanese platform game released in December 1988 by Tecmo for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was developed simultaneously with the beat 'em up game of the same name, intended for arcade machines, although in reality it has almost nothing to do with it. In March 1989, it was released in North America, in September 1991 - in Europe, while the European version was called Shadow Warriors. In 1992, the game was ported to the PC Engine, and in 1995, a version was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System as part of the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy compilation. Four separate episodes for mobile phones were planned, although only one of them ultimately appeared, since 2007 Ninja Gaiden has been available on the Virtual Console service.
