This is a list of my top six battle themes in RPGs and SRPGs. Why six? Because I can never seem to settle on a top five.

Now, because this is so vast with battle themes, there are SO many, so I've decided to divide them into three categories. Regular Battle Themes, Boss Battles Themes, and Final Battle Themes. This list is of the first.

Even when you divide them into three categories, it's quite hard to make a list as the music is just so awesome when it comes to battles. There are songs from my childhood that I really want to put in, other songs that are awesome and so on...

Please note that like all lists out there, I haven't played EVERY SINGLE RPG, so if there are better songs out there to my ears, I obviously haven't played the game yet. This is a list of MY top battle themes, not THE top battle themes overall.

So, here's my list and brief reasons.

#6) Lunar 2 - Brave Warriors: This is just a song that you can get into and when you look at the battle screen the characters can get into as well. You'll see that that's a big plus for me for battle themes on this list and futures lists, where it's not only a good battle theme, but the game and fighting helps the battle theme be more. Because of these reasons, you can get into the fights in RPGs and it's not just hitting buttons.

#5) Final Fantasy Tactics - Antipyretic: I had originally made this list for RPGs only and not SRPGs, but I felt that I as well as others might feel that some songs are left out, so I put SRPGs in it. Sure, it makes the song list more diverse and harder to pick, but whatever...this song is really just epic. It only plays in big storyline battles where the opponents are strong, usually using unique abilities (at that time) against you and you're in an all out battle for survival. I love orchestral pieces when they do this.

#4) Final Fantasy X-2 - YRP Battle 1: Ah, one of the most controversial FF games there are. I will say I love this game. It's just a great, engaging battle system, I love the dress spheres and the story is relaxed at the first part of the game. It's not a save the world game and I do love it's change of pace. Sure, the game has it's problems, but it's a fun game that I had fun with and that's what matters. Onto the song now. You hardly ever here Jazzy battle themes and this just has a nice sound and style to it. I really enjoy the style and really gets you into the fights when the song does play. That's really all I can say for this one.

#3) Grandia II - Battle Theme: This one was a last minute pick but as I was going over my list, I suddenly remembered Grandia 2's battle system and it's song and that's basically why this is number 3. Grandia 2 has a great, engaging battle system and a song to really get you into the battles. The guitar really made the song IMO. Suffice to say, I never finished this game, I plan to one day, but I do love the battle theme.

#2) Final Fantasy Tactics Advance: Painful Battle - Not sure why this is called Painful Battle as it's a quite energetic song, but looking at the battle it first plays at in the game and what happens soon after, I guess it makes sense. This song is just energetic and has a nice beat and really gets you into the fighting, especially with the way the characters move in the game. It matches the song really well. Not to mention I love Ritz...she might have influenced this song's placement, as you first hear it with her. Not to mention, Human's with Viera classes are cute, awesome and hot, just like Ritz...and Penelo in FFTA2.

#1) Riviera: The Promised Land (PSP Version): Self Discipline - Just an all around epic song. There's really not much to say here. I love fighting with this song playing. It really gets you into the song and just makes all around fighting fun and makes the training sessions in the game more fun. Great sound, style, instrumentation and beat along with a great battle system in a great game makes this my personal favorite number 1 battle theme.
