The steam reviews alone justify this game's existence. This video is a bit more spicy than my usual videos. Forgive me.

For a long time now I've wanted to make videos on how history is represented in video games, and how some video games do it well and some don't. This game does a bit of both. It perfectly narrates the events of the most brutal dictatorship in European history, but doesn't engage the player enough. The game leans heavily on its good research and writing, while the actual gameplay is a bit lacking.

Through the Darkest of Times is a 20th century resistance simulator in which you play as members of the German resistance movements who opposed the National Socialist government. It's a dark experience in which you cannot win. You won't overthrow the dictatorship. All you can do is survive.

I set out to do a video on this, but after seeing the steam reviews realised that there are some HOT alternate takes on this period floating around out there so I decided to talk about how this game represetns history well, by disproving faulty criticism of it.
