Latest Version of Dex Drive Dexplorer Software: http://micro-64.com/features/dexdrive.shtml
List of N64 Cartridge Save Types: http://www.micro-64.com/database/gamesave.shtml

Back in 1998 Interact released the Dex Drive, a memory card backup solution for the N64 and PS1. The device would plug into your computers Serial Port and by simply inserting a memory card you could use the included software to make copies of your precious game saves. I was particularly interested in this device for our N64 as we only had one memory card and we played a number of sports games that would eat of the entire capacity of that card. It never happened though and the Dex Drive remained one of those devices that I always wanted to try out but never did. Well, until now that is! Thanks to everyone's support here on YouTube/Twitch/Patreon, I decided to finally track down a Dex Drive and see what it would have been like to use back in 1998 as I had always wanted. I have to admit that I was a little blown away by how easy the process of backing up your saves actually is using this thing (Once you have it connected to a working Serial Port). An added bonus is that by using an N64 Game Shark Pro you can use the Dex Drive to back up a majority of N64 cartridge saves as well! In today's world the Dex Drive is certainly going to be extremely niche but I can honestly see myself leaving the PS1 version hooked up permanently to my retro PC. For N64 I have been using an Ever Drive V3 to accomplish all of my memory card backups for years (a format that doesn't play nice with the Dex Drive BTW). After 22 years though, it is awesome to finally see what the Dex Drive can do and they can still be quite usable today!
