NBA Live 95 [MS DOS, 1995]
Out of this world presentation
90s Video Games, Episode 149

NBA Live 95 was released on MS-DOS in 1995. Essentially, it is the same game, like it was on the Genesis or Super Nintendo, only with much better presentation. Yes, gameplay is still the same, in-game player and court graphics are identical. Camera angle is the same old isometric as it was on Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo. But where it really shines, is the presentation.

It now has CD quality music, it has voice samples before the game, voice samples after the game and in-between the periods. It has high quality player pictures, high quality videos, higher resolution team logos and in-game menu has been completely changed. It's beautiful.

It features updated rosters accurate as of the 1994–95 season's trade deadline, and included the entire rookie class of 1994 - Jason Kidd, Grant Hill, Glenn Robinson, and many many more. NBA Live 95 is the first NBA Live title on the PC. Gameplay can be controlled using the keyboard, mouse or joystick. And everything is customizable.

Unfortunately, this game does not have the new features what we would later see in NBA Live 96. Therefore, if you could only pick one between this beautiful version of NBA Live 95 or NBA Live 96 on the Sega Genesis - many people including myself, would choose to play NBA Live 96. Because of the create player option, on-the-fly play calling and dribble moves.
