150Amir Coffey, of the LA Clippers, was arrested in late July of 2023. Law enforcement in Hollywood had performed a routine traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue. Officers carried out a search of the vehicle, after they detected a strong smell emanating from it. They then came upon 26-year-old Coffey, who was a passenger in the vehicle. He was booked at the LA County Jail and spent several hours behind bars before he was released on his own recognizance. He faced up to a year in prison and a $1,000 fine for his charge but, since he was a first-time offender, his punishment was expected to be lighter.
