Examples of AI blocking behavior in EA Sport's NCAA Football 12. Some good. Some bad.

The removal of suction has greatly improved blocking; but also exposed many faults in blocking that were previously "hidden".

First clip shows an all-out blitz by Cinci. The defense is rushing more people than the offense can block, and the QB (me) is forced to throw the ball early, resulting in a knockdown at the line of scrimmage. Finally! Blitzing might actually be effective at slowing down the passing attack in this game now that my blitzers don't get held up by force fields.

Second clip (0:19) shows a screen. Screen plays are still broken. The AI plays much tighter D in the flats, making screens even more impossible than they ever were. The bad blocking AI doesn't help. Linemen don't turn upfield soon enough, and don't pay any attention to backside pursuit.

Third clip (0:48) shows a read option. Correct implementation of option plays was a major emphasis for last year's game. This year ... eh, not so much. For starters, the play art for options is broken, so I have no idea which guy is going to be my unblocked "read" defender. This example shows the down defensive lineman who is INSIDE THE GUARD getting unblocked. I thought the linebacker would be the unblocked read. The result is what you see...

All that came from ONE GAME!

the fourth scene (1:14) shows mirror blocking. Every single lineman in the play executes the exact same animation. All five of my linemen get tossed to the side by the AI-controlled defensive linemen. Using the exact same animation.
