PC WALKTHROUGH - TOURNAMENT MODE

OK, this is it! The video, you're watching right now, is by far the longest video-walkthrough project from a computer game, I have ever made. Despite the fact, I named it the "PC Walkthrough", you may consider it as a "Longplay", which is my very first one, by the way. Either way, this is a playthrough of an old racing game, called "Need For Speed II Special Edition" for the PC, developed and released by Electronic Arts in 1997.

The game is a sequel to "The Need For Speed" - the criticaly acclaimed and revolutionary at its time first installment, which debuted three years earlier. Just like in the predecessor, once again we gain the ability to take a preferable sportscar and drive it on a selectable race or casual track, depending on our needs. This time however, we get a totally new pack of supercars to drive, new pack of tracks, inspired by real locations around the world and new gameplay mechanics. As for the sequel, NFS II offered new, technical features, such as improved graphics and a new, original soundtrack. The "Special Edition", which was released shortly after, expanded the main content from the standard version of the game, by increasing the number of tracks and cars, including three bonus cars and adding new gameplay features, by supporting 3DFX Glide hardware-acceleration.

As you can see, I decided to make a "walkthrough/longplay" video from this game. There are not too many playthroughs of it on YouTube. In addition, yet nobody has done it the way I have. I've been very keen on Longplay videos recently, so I wanted to test myself in this sort of gameplay films. On the other side, NFS II seems to be unrightfully forgotten and abandoned nowadays by both old generation of players and new, especially. Some even have the tendency to hate it. Due to the fact, it was my first "Need For Speed" game and the first racing game in 3D environment I played in my life, the strength of the sentiment is now bigger and justified as well. I've had the willing to play it for a long time. Thanks to the 3DFX card emulator, it makes it now possible.

This video presents a complete playthrough of the entire tournament mode. At the bottom of the description, you'll find the informations about the mode and its rules, along with specific details about each race.

TOURNAMENT MODE - RULES
Tournament is series of races, where the 8 drivers (including the player) compete amongst themselves on a series of race tracks. Their goal is to get as high position as possible during every race, in order to get specific amount of points, from 1 to 30. Every position taken in the race has its own number of them. In other words, the higher position you take, the bigger number of points you achieve. Points define the drivers' scores in the main rankings. The driver with highest score, wins the tournament. Races take place on 7 world tracks. Each track has its own car class, attached to it. During the tournament, drivers are going to race with 3 car classes, between A (the fastest but the worst handling), B (the balance of top speed and handling) and C (the slowest but the best handling). Every class has its own, individual list of cars, which the driver can choose from. Completion of the tournament on the first place is rewarded by unlocking the three bonus cars, which are available to drive in SINGLE RACE MODE.
