Neon Genesis Evangelion - Anime Review
Sharing my thoughts on the anime classic, Neon Genesis Evangelion which originally aired in Japan in 1995. At 26 episodes, this is a series that I think everyone should watch at least once, although you may need to watch it multiple times to really take in what you just saw. Set in the year 2015, Shinji, Asuka, and Rei pilot mech suits called Evas in an attempt to save the world from the Angels and the looming Third Impact. Little do they know that the people they are working for are really the ones who were behind the Second Impact and are currently working on the Human Instrumentality Project. There are a lot of religious and occultist references in this series, particularly the "Angels," the Dead Sea Scrolls, Antarctica, Seele essentially being the Illuminati, and much more. Due to financial constraints, the series had a controversial ending and has since seen multiple retellings including the anime film, The End of Evangelion and the Rebuild Quadrilogy. There were probably some things that I missed in this review, so if you would like to add anything including your own theories about the ending, please leave a comment. I plan to review all of the movies in the series starting with Evangelion: Death (True)² next week. Thanks for watching, let me know your thoughts in the comments down below, and have a great day!
