NES Challenge - Space Shuttle Project in 1:45:53 [184/714]
Space Shuttle Project is an interesting simulator and it seems to drag on like a real one. Plenty of downtime followed up with an intense input. I feel they did do a good job with what they had to work with. The satellite and space junk/asteroid challenges are quite unrealistic, but make this into a game of sorts. There really is a lack of instruction without the manual. I read it ahead of my playthrough and that's how I knew how the gimble and other basic controls worked.
Graphics, sound, and overall gameplay are good as you would expect. There is a decent variety of missions however it would have been a bit more interesting if you had a variety of parts instead of just grates to install. Maybe change the sprite to a solar panel once in awhile. Also lengthen the flight and add on another oxygen pickup for the space station... then again it may be too long. having to install all those grates at the end was highly repetitive and really not that much fun; hence the solar panel variety.
I'm going to place this really in the middle of the pack. It is more of an original game on the NES, but not terribly fun. My feeling of success and accomplishment was being thankful I wouldn't have to repeat a tedious stage and not really for enjoying it or feeling like I overcame a challenge. The challenge actually felt like cheap shots with the elevator. Regardless I'd throw this in the Top 300-400 range.
