For those interested, here’s my journey with NES Tetris:

I’d been following the scene since 2018, but it wasn’t until after the 2020 CTWC that I decided to give the game a real shot myself.
Progress started slow. I hit 100k before the end of 2020, and managed 200k on a Level 18 start by April 2021.

From there, things picked up. I reached 370k just two months later, and then 480k the following month. By the end of 2021, I had a personal best of 590k.

Despite that early progress, 2022 was slower.
I only achieved one major PB (717,560) in September, plus a small improvement of +19,240 that same month.
That’s when I hit a wall. With long breaks between sessions, it took me a full year to break through it.

I stayed under 800k for all of 2023, only crossing that mark on December 23.
After another break, I recorded my first 800k score in June 2024.
Then, things accelerated quickly as I managed a 900k at the end of the same month.

Coming into the summer of 2025, I put more time into de-rusting and finally broke my personal best, not once, but three times in just ten days:

920k on July 10
930k on July 16
MAXOUT on July 20!

I want to thank Joseph, Jonas, Koryan, Greentea, and MegaRetroMan for inspiring me to take up the game. Watching them compete at CTWC over the years was a huge motivator.
I’d also like to thank a fellow Crash Bandicoot speedrunner and NES Tetris player, Averso, who motivated and supported me further, giving me advice and being someone I could share my achievements, throws, and funny moments with.
