Netbooks in the Classroom: Gimcks or Useful Tools?

When looking at the learning landscape it quickly became evident that the goal was 1 computer per child. Many classroom's don't have the funds to make this happen, this is especially true in Asia where English Schools are the standard after school activity.
Netbook News put 2 Classmate PC's in to the English House, an English School, here in Taipei. Their student body consists of students ages ranging 6-18 with the majority being in elementary school. Their primary goals are creating functioning language skills and building confidence.
When we initially handed the devices over Scott was scpetical of how just a few a computers would impact his classroom. His fear was that it would be a distraction with no educational value. After three months of use we went back to see what his thoughts were on the netbooks. You'll see from the video that he gives examples of why they were positive and different ways he was able to roll them out in his class to the benefits of the children.
