NETFLIX SERIES - HIGH SCORE (2020) REVIEW | JHO-RPG
In the 80's and 90's, videogames were arguably the best things ever for kids. North America and Japan may have had the better experience compared to the rest of the world.
While the Japanese and American kids were blessed with their own respectable versions of videogame consoles, most kids in the Philippines would just run to their neighbors, close friends and even spend money in the game renting shops to play their favorite games. Not only Nintendo Famicom/NES but also the Sega Megadrive/Genesis up until the release of the Playstation.
Nowadays, only a few shops exist that would rent out the latest videogame consoles from SONY, MICROSOFT and Nintendo. With the growing popularity of PC gaming and Mobile Phone gaming, the industry has shifted in these markets.
Nevertheless, videogames is still a booming industry rivaling even the music and movie industries combined. As gamers from the 80s and 90s, we have come along way from the crude 4 bit graphics and sounds... to the HI-DEF realistic and virtual world of games that we have today.
Japan came up with their own gaming publication called Famitsu. In the US, magazine catalogues from Department stores like Seer's and Macy's would only have sections that will feature some videogame previews and mediocre reviews... that barely scratch the surface of the gameplay.
In this video I am talking about the NETFLIX original series called THE HIGH SCORE. The first season only has 6 episode, each would run about 60 minutes or so. The entire series is narrated by Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario in all of the Nintendo advertisements.
HIGH SCORE is now available for streaming in Netflix.
