First I’ll start with a brief announcement about the new channel. It’s called OtterHappy and it has nothing to do with gaming. There I offer tips on being happy and fulfilled, relationships and life hacks. I answer questions and offer advice to help you be happy and to thrive. I expect to post at least two video per week. There are currently 8 very short videos on topics like relationships, the meaning of life, and what causes you to get upset and what to do about it. I invite you to check out the channel and subscribe. See the link below.
Now, about this channel. Most of you are here for Scrap Mechanic content. Unfortunately, I’ve been bored with Scrap mechanic and I don’t want to do videos just to get views. If I’m going to do a gaming video, I want it to be something I’m interested in, and I also have to get a certain amount of views for it to be worth the effort. It takes maybe four hours to create a 15 minute video, so if I’m only getting 20 views, then I’m just setting myself up for disappointment. I wouldn’t say I’m completely abandoning this channel. I might do videos now and then, and when Scrap Mechanic chapter 2 comes out, I expect I’ll put out some content then. But for the most part you likely won’t see much here. If you want to make sure you see my occasional videos, you should ring the bell for notifications because otherwise you probably won’t see my videos in your feed.
If I had more of a following I might do fan creations videos, but there just aren’t that many people posting stuff on the Discord, and I don’t really feel like doing a workshop hunters sort of thing.
Besides Scrap Mechanic, I have some following with Main Assembly and I might do occasional videos for that, though I’m not super-excited about it. I also have a fan base from Gamecraft. That game was unfortunately abandoned and the devs have transferred some of the programming and assets over to a new game called TechBlox. I might do a Techblox video at some point, but I’m going to wait until the game is further developed. I have a few subs from Kind Words. I plan to do some Kind Words videos on the new channel.
Besides those, I’ve tried some other games on the channel like Skyrim, Human Fall Flat, and Minecraft, but they have not gotten good views. I recently tried to record No Man’s Sky, but apparently my computer can’t handle recording that game. I’ve considered something like Space Engineers, but I like to see plants or animals, and Space Engineers just looks really sterile.
So, here we are. I know there are some of you who like my content and want to see more from me, and I appreciate that very much and I feel an obligation to give you want you want. But, what happens is I feel the obligation while at the same time I’m not interested in making content, and that just causes me to feel anxious because I’m disappointing you. I don’t want to feel anxious. I want to do what I feel like doing and to be content with that, so I guess I want you to release me from the obligation, and I need to set this burden down. I’ve thought about just saying, “that’s it. I’m not doing another video.” That might be healthier for me frankly, but I really can see myself doing more videos at some point.
I’m really grateful to you guys for watching my content, and encouraging me in the comments and on Discord. And I’m also proud for what I’ve done on the channel. I made some amazing kinetic art, pattern makers, I made the Madlebrot Set in scrap mechanic. I’ve provided helpful tips so you can make better stuff in the games. I’ve talked to you about some serious issues. And I’ve learned so much about how to do YouTube and how to teach stuff. And it’s given me a place where I can be creative and express parts of my personality that I don’t always show.
So I think that’s everything I wanted to cover. Again, if you want to make sure you don’t miss future videos on this channel, be sure to ring the bell, and if you want to check out the new channel, link is below and on the endscreen coming up. Thanks for watching, and I’ll see you in the next one, whenever that is. Bye!
