New combat tech for military working dogs to withstand battlefield noise
711Military working dogs are undergoing innovative battle inoculation training to better prepare them for combat environments.
Using airsoft rifle replicas and mobile blast simulators, the dogs are exposed to the sounds and concussive effects of gunfire without the risks of using live weapons.
Major Graham Harvey, project manager and Innovation Scout at JHub Med, said, "It's been an issue for a long, long time... where a dog is exposed to something that it's not comfortable with... that dog team becomes operationally ineffective."
