NEW OPL VERSIONS FINALLY! 🟢 But they have BOOT BUGS ⚠️ DON'T UPDATE YET!
🎮 Attention OPL users on PS2! The new OPL revisions are now available: rev 2203 and rev 2206, and while many of us expected significant improvements... there's a problem!
These versions attempt to adapt to a new tool called EE GCC 15, which is a compiler (a kind of code translator for the PS2 to understand). The goal was to prepare the OPL for the future, making it compatible with this new technology.
But for now, both versions are experiencing startup errors: many users report that the screen goes black and the OPL won't start.
🚫 That's why I recommend NOT updating for the time being, at least until these issues are fixed.
In this video, I explain:
What changes were made internally
Why GCC 15 was used
Which versions to use in the meantime
And what to expect in future updates
