Brand spanking new video with brand spanking new WRC 8 physics! Thanks to AgentHeX 0007 on RaceDepartment, we have something that resembles something closer to NGP in RBR. With changes to the gravity, tyre friction and centre of gravity, I believe we have something that is far closer to reality than previously.

Before I get too far, for those wondering what option I used for the physics, it is Sim-PLUS+ Grip Level C.

With the overhaul, you really need to work on setting the car up for a corner. Chucking it in at ridiculous speed is far less of a thing, especially in slower corners, where you can really feel the weight and lower grip levels working against you. While making it more of a challenge to get the car into a corner, the changes have also made the cars more predictable. With the way they flailed around previously with seemingly high CoG numbers, it made it very hard to get a consistent feeling for what worked. The way cars launched off little bumps and jumps made it more like a flight sim - but not now.

These changes, for me, have helped to create a special feeling when I nail a corner. A satisfaction that just didn't quite exist with the stock physics. The changes have also allowed me to refine the way the car feels through the setup like I couldn't before. On tarmac, things get even better (as the video demonstrates I feel). It's allowed me to find more precision in the car and setup, yet it still feels alive and clearly moves around at points (as also seen in the video). It just feels so satisfying.

Is it perfect? Of course not. From a pure sim perspective, I feel like there *might* be a tad too much lateral grip, but I am far from an expert, perhaps the cars aren't quite responsive enough either. There are points you can certainly tell that the driving model is lacking in some details, but that is more to do with the game than the mod. Things like aero and the tyres don't exactly feel like the most complex things in the world. Despite that, it is still a huge amount of fun and a big step in the sim direction. One other great thing about this mod is the amount of options you have with the physics. There is bound to be something for everyone here.

Even before this mod, WRC 8 was the most fun modern rally game on the market for me, this mod has just given me extra incentive to drive it more! It's well worth a try, BUT BACK UP YOUR ENTIRE GAME FOLDER.

The changes didn't stop with physics. AgentHeX has changed, enhanced and added a whole lot more. Check out his mod here - https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/wrc-8-mods.29473/

If you want a tarmac and gravel setup, I've uploaded a couple here -
