New Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Nuzlocke Rules | Guide for your Paldea adventure on November 18th!
*SPOILER-FREE Description*
Differences from standard Nuzlocke rules:
-You do not have to nickname your pokemon
-You do not have to randomize your starter
-Fainting does not equal death
-You are not limited to catching the first wild pokemon you encounter
New Rules (anime-inspired):
Gyms
-You must battle gym leaders using the same number of pokemon they have on their team (guide below).
-Against gym leaders, you cannot terastallize until they send out their last pokemon (makes it more epic with the music).
-You cannot initiate a battle against gym leaders if a pokemon on your team is 3 levels above their strongest pokemon.
-*OPTIONAL* If a pokemon faints, you must remove it from your party until you earn another badge.
Titans
-You cannot initiate a battle against a Titan with pokemon on your team that are 3 levels above it.
-*OPTIONAL*If you are hit by Bombirdier’s falling boulders, you must get off of Koraidon/Miraidon and complete the rest of this challenge on foot (untested).
Elite 4
-You can only enter the elite 4 with pokemon level 59 and below. It’s fine if you exceed the level cap while inside.
-During the Elite 4, you are allowed to exchange pokemon when the game tells you what they will send in next.
Team Star
-You cannot initiate a battle against a Team Star Boss if a pokemon on your team is 3 levels above their strongest pokemon.
General
-When the game reveals which pokemon your opponent will send in next, always select “no” to switching (SET battle-style).
-Held items are allowed to be given to your pokemon
-Healing items can only be used outside of battle or during wild pokemon battles.
-X-items (Battle Items) can be used during regular trainer battles, but not during important battles (Gym Leaders, Team Star Bosses, Titans, Elite 4, Rival, etc).
-You begin your journey with 2 Pokemon Center uses and accumulate two more with every badge obtained (18 badges total).
-*OPTIONAL* If you desire, you can restrict yourself to only catching pokemon that are featured on the mini-map or raid/terastallized pokemon.
Question: What stakes are there if pokemon do not die?
Answer: Blacking out and starting over is enough of a penalty. Feel free to use new pokemon if you wish, but saying they died is harsh.
Question: My entire team became over-leveled during the battle, but I lost the battle. Now what?
Answer: You can still use those same over-leveled pokemon in the rematch because you failed (blacked out) at least once.
Recommended Path and Data (Objectives in order):
1st. Cortondo Gym - 3 pokemon - Level 15 (highest level of the pokemon you will battle against)
2. Stony Cliff Titan (South Province Area 3) - Level 16
3. Artazon Gym - 3 pokemon - Level 17
