New Sims, New Hood, Same Gameplay Rules - The Sims 2 Custom Hood Newtonshire - Part 1
1We delve into a brand new hood with (almost) brand new sims and start up a new set of stories. In Newtonshire, a newly established hamlet, resides four households with sims of differing ages, wants, and life goals. The first household is the town Mayor, his wife, and teenage daughter, while the second is two sisters who have recently lost their mother.
The sequel to one of the most sold PC games of all time finally arrived on people's computers in 2004. Offering a massive leap from an isometric world and static ages, The Sims 2 introduced aging, new life stages (toddler, teen, and elder) and the ability for a sim's genetics - hair colour, eye colour, skin colour, and facial features - to be passed down to their children.
The Sims 2, like its predecessor, gained a number of expansions and some smaller stuff packs. These were University, offering a new life stage (young adult), the ability to go to college and get a degree, and all that entails; Nightlife which added Downtown, restaurants, dating and attraction; Open for Business where sims could open up a number of different businesses, from cafés and bakeries to restaurants, electronic stores, and more. Pets added back in furry and not-so-furry companions, allowing sims to add cats and dogs to their families (who could also go out and get jobs) as well as small pets like hamsters and birds. Cats and dogs also had genetics and breeding options, meaning you could create your own custom breed in the game.
Seasons brought along seasons, and re-introduced gardening with some changes. Bon Voyage allowed sims to travel once more, to three different locations. FreeTime brought the focus back to the home, adding hobbies and interests to a lot of items already in the game, as well as adding new ones. Finally, Apartment Life allowed sims to rent rather than buy their home, and get to know their new neighbours.
