New! SMW2 Yoshi's Island - Part 27 (4-7) Ugh... This level.
This is one of the few times in this game where I've just outright hated the level design. Hate is a strong word, but I mean it.
This level boils down to a 50/50 chance of going the correct way to get all the collectibles, on top of giving you NO direction on how to even achieve them. If you watch the video, you'll see I fail to get up to a section that has collectibles, only because I didn't know to use the stupid bubbles in a very specific location on the green pipe. Then, you need to know to instantly throw an egg at a precise angle to release a P-switch to get a flower. This type of design (I feel) is meant to make the player have to play the level over again, which really slows down this game. I can't tell you how many times I've had to replay levels because I missed one obscure secret.
Later in the level, I hit a winged ? block to reveal a door. I go inside, collect 4 red coins, and think that's it. I did the collectible. Wrong. As if this level wasn't cheap enough, there are actually 2 possibilities of rooms you can go into depending on if the door is touching the dirt or on the ground below. I had to figure this out by watching raocow's video and noticing that he got sent to a different room because the door was on the ground. This has got to be the stupidest choice I've ever seen. No indication to check the door twice and no indication that there's even 2 rooms. This is the same crap the Secret-5 pulled off in Mario Advance 3, where the room changes based on where you enter the door. Could it be any more cryptic?
Sadly, I didn't feel like replaying the level on camera and showing the missed collectibles. It took me nearly 20 minutes to get them all after the recording.
This has got to be one of the laziest and most cheaply designed levels in the game so far. I'm not alone on this opinion. A ton of people in raocow's video were commenting as well.
The next level, 4-8, is apparently really difficult and lengthy, but that upload will come soon.
