*Cheating*
In most cases I feel like cheating robs the player of more challenging and engaging gameplay. Rather than looking for an optimal solution to the first area I let it complete 100% at 100x speed. This isn't particularly interesting or fun, but I already made a video going through the first area at normal speed. For recording purposes I think speeding up the game adds more than it takes away.
