New World Aternum Launch : Is This MMO Improved
New World Aeternum just finished with Open BETA for PC, Xbox Series X/S and Playstation 5 : I jumped in and checked it out and now it's time to talk about : Is New World Aeternum improved and better? Did this MMORPG turn the page and make itself something special?
New World Aeternum opened the gates and allowed players to jump in and try this MMORPG in it's new state with the open beta and I played it, and with New World Aeternum I was surprised at how much more polish and content it now has right out of the gate. This version now sets up the intro in a much more interesting way and added a ton more story and voice acting to the entire experience. Also, it will be crossplatform between PC, Xbox Series X/S and Playstation 5, with crossplay so no matter what platform you are on, you'll be playing with others in shared servers. This is really great news for console MMO lovers because they don't have a lot of options this generation : Elder Scrolls Online and Final Fantasy XIV are the only high quality options so far, and adding New World, especially in this much better state is a breath of fresh air and a completely different MMO experience than offered by the others. Let's talk about my experience playing New World Aeternum and you can decide if you want to give it a go come launch here on October 15th 2024.

I want to start off letting you know that I did run into some bugs while playing on Playstation 5, but throughout the weekend I watched as they patched and fixed all the bugs I ran into, so the test was obviously there so they could get some of these wrinkles ironed out and I was impressed with how quickly they resolved issues throughout the test period.
When New World first launched on PC, I thought it was a fun game but didn't feel like it was completely all there, I played for a few months and enjoyed my time but the content felt forgettable for the most part however I found that the dungeon content was extremely fun and offered a challenge until you learned the mechanics and I said back then that if Amazon continued working on this game they could turn it into something special.
And that's what Aeternum is, a new launch with new servers that is going to offer the polished and much more expanded version of New World, and although it's not perfect, it is definitely worth a look. If you already own New World on PC, on October 13th, this will be available to you at no cost. If you want to play on Xbox or Playstation, you will need to pay. However, New World Aeternum does NOT have a subscription fee and their cash shop is minimum and hasn't been pay to win or even annoying at all.
With all that out of the way, I want to start out by saying that New World Aeternum feels like a true open-world MMO with some sandbox elements mixed in that give it a very unique feeling as you are playing, it doesn't feel like World of Warcraft or really anything else out there and being unique in this market is definitely a good thing.
Beyond that, they've revamped the PvE content, it used to feel like the same handful of quests during your journey to max level, now New World has much more variety and the way that the story is told along with the voice acting, makes the journey to max level a joy instead of a chore, the main story quests are night and day from where New World was at launch and is now an enjoyable experience that as long as you enjoy the combat, I personally do, you will find yourself playing longer than you expected into the night and I applaud Amazon for fixing this and making it a better experience.
Now, I did some research and was shocked to discover that New World on PC already has these changes, minus some of the beginning cut scenes. So, this content has been being fixed and updated for awhile in preparation for this console release of New World Aeternum.
