Leaked details about the next Ghost Recon game have surfaced on the internet. Up until this point, fans of the Ghost Recon franchise may have been wondering when or if the next entry in the tactical shooter franchise would arrive, and thankfully, those fans seem to be in luck.
The last release in the series was Ghost ReconBreakpoint, developed by Ubisoft Paris and released in 2019. Breakpoint focused on online play, leaning into the live service aspect of the gaming market. Ubisoft introduced NFTs to the game in December 2021, and reports state that in total, those NFTs made around only $400. Come April 2022, live service support for the game was shut down.
Insider Gaming has shared details about the next Ghost Recon entry, with the rumored game said to be using the codename Project Over. and supposedly targeting a release window of 2025-2026. One of the most notable changes detailed is the switch to a first-person perspective, as the Ghost Recon franchise has not focused on first-person since the 2007 release of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. The 2017 and 2019 releases, Wildlands and Breakpoint, include optional first person modes, though it seems like this new entry will go all-in on the concept.
