Before you can do anything with your Nexus One such as rooting or installing Cyanogen rom, you will need to unlock the bootloader. If your Nexus One doesn't boot up with an unlocked "lock" icon, that means it's locked so you need to unlock it. But don't worry, it's rather simple, you just need to install the Android SDK, USB drivers, and unlocking software. Not hard, won't brick your phone.
