Pretty straightforward challenge. Take the first shortcut. Only boost when you need to accelerate, once you hit top speed it's wasteful to continue boosting. Oh, and stay in the oncoming lane as much as possible. Tons of free boost and virtually no traffic to worry about after taking the shortcut.
