Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch #008, Ding Dong Dell: Drippy's Embarrassment
This is video #008 in my playthrough of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. In the previous video, Oliver defeated the Guardian of the Woods in the Deep Dark Wood, and Old Father Oak gave him the tools needed to mend broken hearts: the Locket, the Take Heart spell, and the Give Heart spell.
Now, Ollie and Drippy return to Ding Dong Dell to fix the doorman's broken heart. To do this, Oliver first has to talk to the enthusiastic doorman and get some of his Enthusiasm with Take Heart. Next, he has to talk to the other doorman and give him that Enthusiasm with Give Heart.
When the doorman has his enthusiasm back, there is a short scene, and the doormen open the gates to Ding Dong Dell (time index 3:42). Does anyone else notice that the doormen's helmets have cat-like ears and that their staves are topped with fish?
When our duo steps into town, Drippy suggests that they visit the king. That sounds like a plan. To the northwest, next to an archway on the street going west, there is a pot with a random small amount of Guilders (time index 6:42). A little trivia: the Guilder used to be the Dutch currency before the Euro.
After talking to a few townspeople, Oliver passes under the northwest archway (time index 7:30). This initiates a scene that points out the relative oddness of Oliver's wardrobe in the medieval Ding Dong Dell. Drippy insists that Ollie acquire some more suitable clothes. Despite that, the grimalkin (cat person) that Oliver talks to next seems to like his clothes.
Nicely enough, the guiding star points us to the Hootique just ahead (time index 8:55). After some conversation, it turns out that the Hootenanny has an old set of clothes that she can tailor down to Oliver's size. It will take a day for her to make the alterations. But just who was the mystery patron who left the clothes behind in trade?
Next, Oliver and Drippy check out Swift Solutions on the hill to the south (time index 12:50). On the south side of the Swift Solutions building, there is a pot with some more Guilders. These pots that contain Guilders will get more money back after a while.
The shopkeeper at Swift Solutions is wearing a silly bird outfit. He explains the tasks that Oliver can undertake. Essentially, these are side quests. Some are Errands that townspeople will ask Oliver to do, such as gathering things, finding lost puppies, and restoring broken hearts. There are also Bounty hunts that he can do to clobber monsters in the surrounding area. To take on Bounty hunts, Oliver has to talk to the Swift Solutions shopkeeper. To take on Errands, Oliver can look at the Errand board, and he can also talk to the Errand giver in person. The Errands and Bounties will also appear in the Journal, which is conveniently added to the main menu at this time.
While at Swift Solutions, Oliver takes on his first Bounty hunt, #086: Vegetable Thief (time index 15:53). In the other part of the shop, Oliver acquires information for Errands #041, #042, and #043. If you can't make out the Bounty and Errand numbers in the video, I'm sorry; I'm not the one who told video game developers to make numbers so blasted small in PS3 games.
Thanks for watching!
