IGN gives you the quick solution to Horace's Riddles in Ni No Kuni on the PS3.

After solving his riddle in Perdida, you'll next find Horace back where you first met him in Ding Dong Dell. He'll ask you to translate the markings on the monument to unlock a spell. The translation reads:
"Mix black stroke of first and second spell;
To make another that will serve you well"

The first and second spells are Form Familiar and Gateway, and if you look for a spell in your spellbook that uses both of their black strokes, you'll find Unleash, which is your answer.
