165If you have completed routes A-D, the Amnesia quest sheds some light on 2B’s personality. 2B displays subtle hints of jealousy towards 9S after he agrees to help a Resistance woman with amnesia in the City Ruins. She claims to have been in a huge explosion with no memory of the events before or after the shock but does possess a broken Pod with her friend’s final moments recorded inside.
After some detective work and finally hacking the broken Pod to see more of the life log, the Resistance woman's lost memories came rushing back - it turns out she was a YoRHa Type E. Hiding her true nature, she blended in with the Resistance to rout out fugitives and traitors, with her final victim being a dear friend. Wracked with guilt, Type E erased her own memory. The sudden return of this tragic memory ended up leaving her shaken and unstable.
The disturbing part of this quest is that we learn what type “E” stands for — “Execution”. When 9S states he’s never heard of that designation and questions 2B if she has, she replies, “Some things are better left unknown.”
Knowing that she does in fact care for 9S, 2B is probably trying to dissuade him from further investigation. Worst case scenario would lead to her having to terminate him again and wipe his memories another countless time.
