In 2006, USAopoly, makers of variants of the popular Monopoly board game by Parker Bros., released Nintendo Collector's Edition Monopoly. This version of the game names the iconic Monopoly properties after various Nintendo franchises and makes several more references to them with its unique game tokens, paper money, Community Chest (? Block) cards, and Chance (Block) cards.

In 2010, USAopoly released a variant of the Nintendo Collector's Edition Monopoly and, among several aesthetic changes to the game board, player tokens, paper money, and cards, also substituted the Star Fox characters featured in the first edition for characters from the Animal Crossing franchise.

Both the 2006 and 2010 editions offer the standard Monopoly game experience so why there exist two versions of it remains a mystery (at least to me).

In this video I take a look at each version of the game and discuss the variations between them.

At the time of this video in 2014, only the second edition from 2010 is available for purchase. At $34.99, I think that this set does little to set itself apart from the standard version of Monopoly. Now that the Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition of Monopoly is also available, Nintendo fans would be much better served to pick that up instead of this rather vanilla edition.
