Nintendo Direct 4.12.2017 - What Do You Want to See? - TPAG

Nintendo of America on their Twitter page announced that there will be a Nintendo Direct presentation on April 12 2017 at 3:00 PM Pacific time, 6:00 PM Eastern time, to present information on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS. This tweet also mentioned that the main focus of this presentation would be on the upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch, ARMS and Splatoon 2.

Release dates
First and foremost, Nintendo Direct announcements have been the forefront for Nintendo to announce the releases of their newest games. Since ARMS and Splatoon 2 were specifically mentioned, it is likely that we will be given some information about these two games, if not more. From what we know so far, ARMS is supposed to be release is set for Spring 2017 while Splatoon is set to be released some time in Summer 2017. It is possible that there will be other announcements on future release dates for games that have been talked about, such as Yooka-Laylee and Skyrim, but that remains to be seen.

Online play details
One of the biggest aspects of Splatoon 2 and ARMS is the Online capabilities, and it is likely that we will see some information about online play for these games. Those who had a chance to participate in the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire have already experienced the Nintendo Switch’s online capabilities, but Nintendo is going to need to give some information about how these games perform online if they want to drive up anticipation and sales for these games. We also may get some insight into how much it will cost once Nintendo decides to switch to paid online play.

Online communication
One of the most heavily speculated aspects of the Nintendo Switch was the capabilities for online voice communication. From what we have seen, Nintendo plans to have gamers use smartphones to communicate during online play, instead of communicating through the game. It is unclear how Nintendo plans to do this, so it is expected that this Nintendo direct will offer some insight into how gamers can voice chat while playing their favorite online games.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe details
While the announcement of this Nintendo Direct did not specifically mention anything about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it is possible that we may see some more information about this game especially since its release is in a few weeks. Some details about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that have yet to be revealed were its online capabilities and whether players can set up tournaments like in the previous Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U.

Nintendo 3DS games
The Twitter posting about this Nintendo Direct presentation did specifically mention Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS announcements. While no games were specifically mentioned for the Nintendo 3DS, it is likely we may hear announcement for new Nintendo 3DS games or even updates to existing 3DS games. Nintendo did make mention that the Nintendo Switch would not be replacing the Nintendo 3DS, it is likely that Nintendo is still developing content for this system, and we will be hearing about this in the Nintendo Direct presentation.

Nintendo 3DS compatibility with Switch
Some people have been speculating that there may be some possibility that the Nintendo 3DS will be able to sync up with the Switch in some way. These two systems are of Nintendo most successful systems and are still receiving new games, so it is likely that these two systems could work in tandem in some way. Again, this is mainly speculation and no evidence of the Nintendo 3DS syncing with the Switch has been announced by Nintendo.

E3 Details
E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, will be taking place June 13-15 2017 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. While Nintendo has lately not had a lot in store for E3, with only two months before this premier event it is possible we will be getting some information about what Nintendo plans to bring to the table for this year’s convention. This too is speculation, and it is unlikely that Nintendo would use a Nintendo Direct to announce their E3 plans, which is usually just another Nintendo Direct presentation.

These are just my thoughts about the possibilities for this Nintendo Direct presentation, but I am way more interested in what you want to see on April 12. Keep the conversation going in the comment section below and let me know what you think Nintendo will be announcing with this Nintendo Direct. As always, thank you all for watching and stay tuned to TimPlaysAGame for gaming videos and information on upcoming games. This is Tim from TimPlaysAGame signing off and good night.
