In this video, we discuss the new alert hitting Switch owner's emails and consoles regarding the new Console Linking to Profiles for Firmware 6.0.0.
I was working on editing another video when I saw an alert from Nintendo in my email. Upon investigating it was something pretty exciting! What it said was:

On 9/18, your Nintendo Switch will be receiving a system update, version 6.0.0. Afterwards, it will no longer be possible to unlink your Nintendo Account from your Nintendo Switch user profile. Prior to this change, you should verify that your Nintendo Account or your child’s Nintendo Account is linked to the correct user profile.

For example, please confirm that the parent’s or legal guardian’s Nintendo Switch user profile is linked to the parent’s or guardian’s Nintendo Account, and that the child’s Nintendo Switch user profile is linked to his or her child account.

By ensuring that your Nintendo Account is linked to the correct user profile, you will be able to appropriately manage your save data, Nintendo Switch Online membership, and Nintendo eShop content.

So what does this mean to you? First of all, and this is the most exciting to me, we know that Nintendo is going to start seeding the 6.0.0 update to the servers at 5PM Pacific time on 9/18. It is not often that we get that level of detail regarding when an update will drop!

Second, we now know that the incoming cloud save configuration is, as many speculated, tied to each user on a Switch. For those who have one Switch with multiple users who share data on this it means each person can have and store their own save states independent from other users on that device. It ties everything nicely together and provides real value for having a linked My Nintendo account.

I don't think this is a major deal, it is quite easy to verify all your profile information is correct and be ready for 6.0.0. I'm just excited that here, on 9/12/18, we're less than a week away from Nintendo's online service finally launching.

Now, can we just get proper voice chat in-game?
