Nioh [Complete Edition] - Must Learn Beginner Technique!
Please Read Description
------------------------------------------
Are you a beginner? Are you tired of being killed? Do you want to make the gameplay easier?
If you answered YES to any of those questions then pay particularly close attention to the video and the information contained within.
The "Quick-Draw" technique is probably the most underutilized technique in the game especially when it comes to beginners. I know I learned this lesson the hard way and thought this technique in the beginning was a waste of time seeing how slow the sheathing animation made it to utilize in actual gameplay.
After learning the four ways of sheath canceling, this technique can easily be abused which deals out massive damage in certain situations!
The four ways of sheath canceling are as follows...
- Movement Canceling
- Range Weapon Canceling
- KI Pulse Canceling
- Weapon Switch Canceling
Movement Canceling is the hardest of the three methods but still worth learning. If you don't yet have a range weapon or you screw up and expend all your ammo, this canceling method still allows you to sheath cancel into the "Quick-Draw" technique.
Movement canceling is accomplished by pressing ... ( UP ) + ( RB ) + ( B ) which quickly sheaths your weapon. Next, while still holding down the ( RB ) button you press ( B ) again to start your "Quick-Draw" attack.
Range Weapon Canceling requires a range weapon with ammo to be equipped. Basically, you quickly sheath your weapon by pulling your Left Trigger ( LT ) till the aiming animation starts to appear then press ( RB ) + ( B ) to cancel into your "Quick-Draw" attack. The aiming animation is what quickly sheaths your weapon and also happens to be easiest/fastest preferred method.
KI Pulse Canceling is where you KI Pulse after an attack by pressing ( RB ) and while still holding it you press the ( B ) button to immediately go into your Quick-Draw attack. This technique is typically used more in combos on weaker enemies that can't interrupt them along with a Flash Attack which knocks the enemy back just enough to allow you to continue attacking.
Weapon Switch Canceling is where you hold down the ( RB ) button while "double-tapping" the D-Pad to cycle back to your original weapon to execute a quick-draw with it. If you have another quick-draw weapon equipped as your second melee weapon then you only have to tap the D-Pad once to initiate the quick-draw for that weapon which always you to execute two quick-draws back to back!
If your using a PlayStation controller then ...
( RB ) = ( R1 )
( B ) = ( O )
Just remember that this technique only works for the Sword, Dual Swords, and Odachi.
You need to unlock these Weapon Skills ...
Sword Technique - lai Quickdraw
Dual Swords Technique - Sign of the Cross
Odachi - Imperative Strike
On a side note, all human enemies can be knocked down repeatedly using this particular technique making certain Boss characters more manageable. I promise you that if you master this technique that the game will become much easier.
If you doubt what I'm saying then please checkout the Nioh ESA speed-runs which clearly demonstrate the techniques being used to crush the AI humanoid bosses!
Also, the "The Warrior of the West" was beaten at LEVEL 35 with "Tower" armor which for all intensive purposes is worthless. I used Kekai & Weakness talismans along with Earth. The Kekai talisman allowed for fast KI recovery and movement for dodging his quick-draw attacks. Of course, the Weakness talisman allowed me to inflict more damage. As for applying Earth to my weapon, it's suppose to double the enemies KI consumption once it's applied allowing for more opportunities to land huge damaging attacks but I'm not so sure about that.
Hopefully, this information/video helps out some beginners.
