Nioh - The Devastator (FUN Exploding Tonfa Build)
1,440It's finally here! I present to you my first Tonfa build, and its sick as hell to play with! Katana's? Get that shit outta here, we got BOOM-STICKS!!! I go in depth with the build and tonfa's, with commentary!

*HOW TO GET GEAR*
Setup is easily farmable, just need to farm two people, Sarutobi, and Sanada. I recommend doing it on NG+ for easier time, and the drop rate of smithing text is pretty much identical to demon. You don't need Sanada's wpn text (just need the wpn), however, Sarutobi you must get the smithing text for both armor/wpn. Reason for this is you WANT (Need) star effect Devastation, and forging is the easiest way to get it. Keep in mind if you don't forge the armors, stat requirements will be doubled, so you might need more str. Rest of the stuff is pretty common sense. Can use any cannon with fire damage, or go for west bow for some dmg reduction. Equip Itokuri and luck (using lw) on charms for faster/easier drop chance for text.
*EXTRA THOUGHTS ON BUILD/TONFAS*
I know most of the footage is way of the demon, but I haven't had time to go deep into way of the wise, and chances are many people wouldn't be able to build ethereal builds yet for some time, so that's why I limited this as close to WOTD on-par gear with builds of "old" for the fairest comparison to see how tonfa's really stack up against other weapons, at least on the level of which they are, as it'll take some weeks before we get a good idea at what's still top in Wise, what's fallen, or what the new top builds are. And as you seen, Tonfa's do pretty good I'd say in comparison, well at least, for single targets.
In way of the wise, it's been pretty good so far, and should carry you through till at least omi region (where I just got to today). Some bosses die in 2-3 shot in wise, others 10+ or more, the balance is stupid in Wise. Though I'll save that rant for the DLC review. Low dmg is also more likely due to the actual weapons (tonfa's) being a bit weak compared to other wpns (much like spear), not the build itself. Or perhaps we have to take a new approach regarding wise enemies. We'll see. Tonfa's suffer from short range in a difficulty where there's multiple strong enemies coming at you at once constantly, and while devastation is good, it's no sign of the cross or windstorm, and its range is deceitfully small, only hitting directly in front of.
Despite its rather limited skill set, I honestly enjoyed the hell out of tonfa's, both in my playthrough, and when building this thing together. The explosion makes it 10x as fun, doesn't feel as cheesy as other 1-skill builds, and looks dank. The issue I have is I wish the explosion was innate, and perhaps we could have had more effects. Limiting it to one tonfa pretty much makes most others irrelevant outside of lw builds that prefer an extra stat slot.
