No Man’s Sky was released five years ago in what was probably one of the most contentious and controversial launches in the last decade. Fans were completely disappointed with the lack of things to do in an infinite world in addition to a lack of features at launch that were promised in vague marketing terms over the course of two years leading up to the game's release.

Hello Games went completely radio silent for months as they began their long arduous journey of patching and updating the game. Five years later Hello Games is still adding tons of improvements and updates to the game and entirely for free.

However, it didn’t take them that long to fix the game enough for people to start coming back around. Today’s video is in part a celebration of Hello Games’ dedication and endurance that ultimately allowed them to pull off one of the biggest comebacks in gaming history.

No Man’s Sky Frontiers, which is the game's newest update that allows players to build up small space towns populated with aliens, just got a new trailer and will be out this year.
