Noita: How to fix Steam Deck input jank
This is a common problem for Steam Deck players due to Noita's default settings. Here's how to fix it.
Explanation for my Steam Input config (shown at end of video):
I changed the right trackpad to "Mouse Region" mode, which maps it 1-to-1 to a region on the screen. Meaning, if you configure this region match your screen exactly, then touching the top-left of the trackpad will put the cursor at the top-left of the screen, touching the bottom-right of the trackpad will put the cursor at the bottom-right of the screen, etc. I also bound wand-firing to the Left Trigger, such that pressing it does not affect the aim of my right thumb on the trackpad.
I find this trackpad setup to be far more fitting, accurate, and enjoyable than trying to drag the standard inertial "trackball" cursor (which just doesn't work here IMO), as well as the common "twin-stick" joystick config. "Mouse Region" actually works similarly to the latter, but retains full-screen travel like a mouse, which is necessary for better control of wand-crafting, pouring, throwing, and kicking.
My general layout is organized liked this:
Right trackpad: cursor control/aiming
Left joystick: move, fly, crouch
Top shoulder triggers: fire wand/pour, kick, throw, use actions
Back grip buttons: wand selection
ABXY: item selection
