First time I got the secret exit of Yoshi's Vineyard, I didn't even know about the shell hidden below the screen, which the game does hint at in Apple Picking Orchard. I must've simply forgotten about that hint. Didn't stop me from figuring out a way to reach this secret exit without needing the shell at all, though.
