Christmas season 2021 saw two very hotly anticipated sequels release: Spider-Man: No Way Home on December 17 and the Matrix: Resurrections on December 22. Other than being sequels to popular franchises, they don't appear to have much in common but turns out that both movies bank on the appeal of Hollywood's favorite street drug nostalgia as an integral part of their stories. Where they truly differ is in the quality of their execution of this idea. This video reviews both movies' plots from start to finish and we see what works and what doesn't and which delivers on the promise of its fan service premise.
