Nothing has unveiled its third set of earbuds after the Ear (1) and the Ear (Stick). As expected, the Nothing Ear (2) resembles the Ear (1), albeit with a few tweaks to provide a more premium listening experience than its predecessor. At the heart of the Ear (2) sits 11.6 mm dynamic drivers, which support AAC, LHDC and SBC Bluetooth codecs. According to Nothing, the earbuds also offer Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, as well as Bluetooth BLE profiles.
Additionally, the Ear (2) features touch-sensitive controls, a low lag mode when connected to a Nothing Phone (1) and Google Fast Pair. Moreover, the earbuds feature Bluetooth Multipoint connectivity and IP54 certification. By contrast, the bundled charging case offers IP55 certification. Incidentally, the charging case supports up to 2.5 W Qi wireless charging and should deliver over 4 full charges before the earbuds need topping up.For reference, Nothing states that the earbuds will last 4 hours between charges with ANC on and 6:18 hours with ANC disabled. Purportedly, Nothing's ANC technology will attenuate background noise by up to 40 dB, significantly less than Oppo's Enco Free3 earbuds. The Nothing Ear (2) is orderable now in multiple markets, although third-party retailers will not carry the earbuds until March 28. Nothing charges £129, €149 and US$149 for the Ear (2), compared to the £99, €99 and US$99 that the Ear (1) retailed for at launch.
