Nova Covert Ops Part 1 - Starcraft 2 10th Anniversary Achievements
On to the last of the achievements! Nova Covert Ops came out in 3 groups of 3 missions, so that's how they'll be broken up.
Gotta Go Fast took about 3 reloads to get the exact maneuvering right during the shutdown phase. There's plenty of extra time available in this route, so if you need to take a section slower or want to rescue some ghosts, you can. Getting spotted and grenading the last group of enemies is a pretty solid strat overall.
Curiosity Killed the Zergling has been one of the most request achievements, and I can see why. 200 units is a lot and losing units is really punishing. Here are my fast recommendations:
-Brutal Difficulty for more units to spawn.
-Take your ally's gas geyser (or two). This allows you to pump many, many more reapers and is nearly mandatory for this. 5 rax (2 rax with reactor and 1 without) was enough for me to spend all my money reliably.
-Fight in open spaces if possible. I did a poor job of this at the start, but placing mines out near the starting area for the units allows for more units to be hit per mine (they're in a ball of units rather than a line, so splash is more effective)
-Use Nova's grenade to soften up 100+ HP enemies and snipe to take down defilers. Remember, only the final hit has to be done by spider mines, and defilers will block 100% of damage to units under it, rendering your spider mines wasted.
-Save often so you can get the best positioning possible with your mines before the units show up.
-If you're really desperate, attacking the zerg base can work since the larvae are very bunched up and there are about 50 of them on 3 nearby hatcheries.
The video has more tips scattered throughout and play that can be improved. I've moved the achievement overlay up a row so that way you can see the spider mine ability and count throughout the mission. Good luck!
Fill 'Er Up is the first mission where we get to abuse the most broken part of the Nova Covert Ops missions: Nukes. I feel like there's a better route/build than what I did since I only had 30 seconds remaining and I feel I played fairly well throughout. Maybe pushing the right side instead of the top reaper point second would be a winning strategy. Regardless, the general idea of using nukes to break the position, sniping the infestation, and running units in will be a part of almost any plan. Marauders not requiring tech labs is a nice upgrade to have (and one I didn't choose for this mission lol) since you'll need to make a few. Clean play, prioritization of units that go in, and a few nukes should get you this achievement with not too many issues.
Gotta Go Fast - 0:00
