In a significant step toward modernizing the Nigerian policing system, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has officially launched a training program for 72 officers on the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Criminal Database System.
The training, held in Abuja, brought together officers from all state commands across the country.
The IGP on his remarks called on the officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity as they undergo the training.
Egbetokun further emphasized the importance of the initiative saying it forms part of a broader police reform agenda aimed at creating a robust system where every arrest is accurately recorded and all cases are properly documented.
Earlier in his welcome address, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Williams Adebowale, head of the Information and Communication department at the force headquarters, also underscored the importance of the criminal database system.
The criminal database system is expected to address longstanding challenges such as weak record-keeping, scattered files, and fragmented intelligence.
