Ah, so I did get an NS after all! Not long after Q401 went by, the NS signal changed to yellow over green, indicating that we were due for a westbound. The signal's been yellow over red all day, nice to see it change. Not to mention that it saved me from no NS at all. Seems that tonight's V17 would be running in the dark. The lashup wasn't all special, but it's better than nothing. It had 2 Dash 9s for power, a widecab and a conventional cab. Which is interesting, because a widecab Dash 9 leading a spartan cab Dash 9 was the exact same power I caught the last time I caught V17 at this particular location. In fact, the C40-9 was facing backwards both times. Even though it wasn't leading, I suppose it's a good thing I caught the C40-9 anyway, because it'll only be a matter of time before all 125 of them get rebuilt to AC44C6Ms. Almost like NS getting AC4400CWs. Of course they didn't really, though. Their first AC power was the SD80MACs, but they were only from Conrail. Their first new AC power was SD70ACes and GEVOs. What's interesting and funny at the same time is that considering all the NS Dash 9s I've ever caught leading, this is my first NS Dash 9 leader in the 9200 number series. Well of all the trains I caught today, this would the #1 catch of the day. It may the only NS I caught today with not the best lashup, but it's better than nothing. Enjoy.
