NZXT changed the replacement PCIe riser cable that we previously tested. This is immensely frustrating, because NZXT used our outlet as a means to clear the slate, but then silently changed.

It’s been three months since we initially demonstrated that the riser cable included in the NZXT H1 was a fire hazard. In that time, NZXT repeatedly walked off every cliff they faced in trying to resolve the issue. From trying to sweep the issue under the rug to providing only a partial solution (and in an incredibly slow fashion), NZXT has ensured that the process has been akin to pulling teeth. Finally, NZXT started taking the right steps by issuing a soft recall (and then working with government officials on a formal recall) and sending us a sample of what NZXT implied would be the new riser. The riser, much like Portal’s cake, was a lie -- well, sort of. There are two risers, and we weren’t aware of the one that resembles a cheese grater. Today we’re going to conclude the saga of the NZXT H1 and see how the new riser cable is. We’re doing our best to include objectivity about the cable, but also include the deserved dose of subjectivity for the behavior NZXT has exhibited. This seemed like a slam-dunk resolution. Why NZXT couldn’t stick to the plan is beyond us, but we’ve seen enough to write the company off on its promises for the H1.
