OBS Black Screen Fix - Windows 10
My OBS was recording fine, until one day the Game Capture (and Display capture) was just a black screen. Updating OBS didn't fix it!
OBS post explaining the cause of this issue: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/laptop-black-screen-when-capturing-read-here-first.5965/
So the fix in the video is as follows:
FIX #1 0:00-2:08mins
Go to 'Device Manager', go to 'Display Adaptors' and DISABLE the integrated graphics.
Alternatively, if you have an NVIDIA card you can go to NVIDIA Control Panel, go to Manage 3D Settings, Select a program (OBS), select the preferred graphics source, then Apply!
However this fix was not great, as recording with OBS on the AMD card immediately throttled my CPU and to a huge amount of time to encode the video. You can even see in the video, the first part (recorded with OBS on the AMD only) had a much poorer resolution and framerate (caused by the CPU throttling). So instead:
FIX #2: 2:10-3:02
Update your AMD drivers. This helped OBS recognise the Display/Game capture, and now you can ENABLE your integrated graphics in 'Device Manager' (allowing OBS to run better)!
You can update your AMD card drivers using this AMD Radeon Settings software, available here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download?ipromo=RSCE-download
