-- Written Steps --
1. Encoding - Set max bitrate between 25k & 35k. You can try tuning quality balance down to 7.
2. Video Setting - Make sure your fps is set at 30. You try increasing these to 60 later. But higher can crash older cards and cause problems.
3. Video (cont) - Next try resolution downscaling. From 1080p to 720p. Compressing your video down can improve performance as your graphics card is built to do this on the hardware level. Use either best detail or medium detail in the filter pulldown.
4. Advanced - Set your x264 CPU preset to Ultra or Superfast. Ignore any warning messages. This will give priority to your computers performance over the quality of your video. But you should have more than enough HD goodness for Youtube (Youtube will compress the heck out of all videos. So it doesn't matter too much so long as it's 720p or higher resolution.)
NOTE - Play around with these settings and always perform a recording test ahead of time. Not all hardware requires the same fiddling. Most rigs will likely be fixed with either changing video or advanced settings.
