Octo Expansion Part 24 (Stage J01H07 [Boss] & Hero Within Secret Boss) - Splatoon 2
0In this paid DLC for Splatoon 2, we're going to travel through a mysterious subway system known as the Deepsea Metro as we search for the promised land. Along the way, though, we have to complete a wide variety of bizarre challenges!
This will wrap up our time in the Deepsea Metro, but the secret boss isn't easy: I cut out nearly half of my attempts to keep this video at a reasonable length. Here are my tips and hints for defeating the Hero Within secret boss:
General Tips:
- If your armor breaks, retreat until it repairs itself. You simply can’t beat the Inkling when you’re impaired like that.
- Also, when your armor is broken, make sure you’re swimming as fast as you can if an Autobomb comes your way. Otherwise, you won’t escape its blast radius.
- Keep as much territory inked as possible. You need to keep moving.
- When you have a direct shooting match with the Inkling, make sure you strafe (move while shooting). Otherwise, they’ll shoot you dead quickly.
- You may want to turn up the sensitivity on your right stick during this battle since the small playfield guarantees you’ll be spinning around a lot.
- Don’t bother using bombs, save for during the Tenta Missiles phase. They use up lots of ink and usually miss, so you’ll probably do nothing but run your ink gauge empty, making it so you can’t escape.
- Don’t allow yourself to take the slightest damage from the initial Splashdown at the start of each phase. You should start fresh, not being reckless.
Tips for Each Phase:
- Wait for the Inkling to fire 6 Inkjet shots, then camp at the spot where they’ll land, shooting at point-blank range. Be ready for them to roll toward a patch of their own ink once they land.
- When the Inkling uses the Bubbler, get in close to them before they shoot all 3 bubbles and fire at point-blank range. Make sure you’re not swimming directly into the bubbles. Once all 3 bubbles are out, you should retreat from them: the Inkling will burst them and kill you if you stick around. You can wait to mount a full-scale attack once they start blowing bubbles again, or you can try having a good ol’ firing match somewhere far away from the bubbles if you have lots of turf near the Inkling inked.
- Swim right past some of the Autobombs to make them explode before tackling the Inkling during the Bomb Rush phase. Attacking them while they’re throwing bombs is risky, so once the first rush’s phase is over, hurry up and attack before the next rush begins.
- During the Tenta Missiles phase, throw a bomb up to the Inkling once they whip out the missiles. Swim quickly to dodge them while refilling your ink and throw the next bomb once you have enough ink to do so. It’ll take two bombs in a row to end the phase.
- Expect 3 Splashdowns in quick succession during the final phase. You’ll have to gun down the Inkling the good ol’ fashioned way once they’re not using Splashdown. When you have the Inkling almost defeated, get in close so they can’t escape with another Splashdown. Be ready to aim up if they manage to start the final Splashdown.
