This is a strategy to fight single target physical damage dealers. We just need to give Gilderoy some elemental attack to make his healing thrust and passive actually heal him a little. Otherwise, we want speed to make sure he can protect the character paired with him.

Gilderoy gains 30% passive and active physical defense, and with the Steadfast amulet and 30% physical debuff, just by swapping Eleonora with Brave Fan we can make him have 95% damage reduction permanently.
