Octopath Traveler 2 has a spectacular atmosphere and presentation that sets the standards for emerging 2.5hd throwback subgenre of JRPGs that are now coming out. Its got amazing characters, fairly good gameplay and music, but its actual dialog and story are lacking so much so that I ended up skipping half of it. The small stories of individual characters often dont land or by their very nature become predictable.

Positives
- Amazing cast of characters and job system
- Excellent music and stylish graphics
- Large world and beefy playtime
- feels very similar to Final Fantasy 6

Negatives
- suffers from awful story based much more on individual mini stories for characters than an overlapping plot.
- the disjointed monster levels from area to area leads to pacing issues especially if you do all the quests and get the full ending. You'll be overpowered on your main team while the others suck.
