Octopath Traveler: CofC - Playwright's Quill is great for farming mats
After getting five copies of Auguste within 200 rolls, I was able to awaken my for the first time a character to get the special accessory. Auguste's Playwright's Quill fully boost the character's Ultimate Technique (UT), which allows for first turn usage. While it sounds like a powerful effect, I initially was unsure how to take advantage of such effect.
While farming for Tikilen (I even made a video today about it), I used Scarecrow's UT a lot. Then I got the idea that perhaps I can use Scarecrow's UT to clear common enemies in Hell for easy materials. Scarecrow's UT hit all enemies, and always lands a critical, which is a good start. For extra damage, I used an Elite Hunter's Emblem and a Hollow Hellbow II with a soul that increases damage to Hell enemies. Finally, I front-run Lynette and switch to Scarecrow, triggering Lynette's passive to give me another damage boost. With all this together, I was able to clear common enemies using the Playwright's Quill on Scarecrow.
This is a great way to farm because it is quick and doesn't consume SP (meaning you don't need to leave to sleep at an inn). You can also farm exp with the other six character slots, and ideally you want to since you can run into Hell Caits that require a full team to defeat efficiently.
Since I don't really watch OT CofC content, I'm not sure if there are other strategies of farming common enemies as good as the strategy I'm using in this video. But I just wanted to post this video just in it might be informative. Is rolling for A4 Auguste worth it for easy farming? It actually might be (if you have A1 Scarecrow and A0 Lynette too)
Thanks for watching!
