0Well they made the animal call ability much better for starters you can use them, as may times as you want instead of only a set number which is much better because trying to recapture is far more annoying then getting NPCs to help you out.
You can also turn monsters into food that can give you buffs during battle and be used to get an NPC to help you...seriously is nearly every character going to have the ability to have a NPC follow them and you can provoke NPC and have your animal friends beta them up.
As fro the boss it can be a little overwhelming when it calls it's reinforcements but just use boost combined with the arrow skill you get at the start to target all of them at once.
But besides that just don't be afraid to use those healing items.
PS:Next time you guesed it back to exploring I want to unlock the places where the last 2 party members are and even do a few side quests as well.
