A brief look at the OCZ Vertex 3 SSD with the new Sandforce 2281 controller. I have a close look at the drive itself, talk about the specifications of the test system and then run some benchmarks. I compare the Vertex 3 to single drive and RAID 0 results of the Vertex 2, which has the older Sandforce 1200 controller. I am really not impressed with the SATA 3 controller on the Rampage III Extreme. It is severely bottle-necking the Vertex 3. I may end up testing this drive on my Sabertooth P67 test bed for better results.
